Police will be conducting DWI checkpoints here for the remainder of the year, according to a police press release issued June 8.
The Egg Harbor City Police Department will not be disclosing the locations of the checkpoints in advance.
They will be determined based on the locations of frequent drunk driving arrests, accidents, and known travel routes to establishments where alcohol is consumed.
The checkpoints are paid for from Drunk Driving Enforcement Funds, collected from municipal court fines and fines levied against persons found guilty of driving while intoxicated.
Authorities ask cooperation from motorists who may be stopped in its efforts to discourage driving while intoxicated. The result will be safer roadways for all.
