Firefighters were on the scene Saturday to bring a forest fire under control in Atlantic County in South Jersey. The fire began off the White Horse Pike in Egg Harbor City before spreading to nearby Galloway Township. The fire was getting pretty big Saturday afternoon, according to police. No official word yet on how big. Firefighters focused on protecting nearby homes from the fire. Homes were evacuated in Atlantic County as a result of a forest fire. No injuries were reported.

[update] The fire was located in the vicinity of North Frankfurt Avenue and Pestalozzi Street in Galloway Township. An unknown amount of acres burned out of control in the blaze. The fire was reported around 3:00 p.m. and was 50-percent contained by 7 p.m., said fire officials.

[update 2] No injuries were reported. Fire officials have released no cause for the fire.

[update 3] The Elwood Fire Company was called to cover Germania’s Station 26-3 while they were fighting a forest fire in the area of Bremen and Frankfurt Ave in Galloway Twp at 3:30pm on Sat April 18th. Multiple Atlantic County fire departments have been dispatch to the fire and multiple homes were evacuated. The fire was more than halfway contained by about 7 p.m
