Firefighters raced to the scene as a forest fire broke out in Atlantic County late today.

The fire’s located off Route 206 (outside of Hammonton) in the Wharton State Forest. The state forest fire service says a helicopter’s being brought in to help contain the blaze. Firefighters say the flames are being whipped by wind gusts of over 20 miles per hour raising concerns the fire will continue to grow.
