A postponed trial involving Mullica Township’s mayor is scheduled to return to borough court Monday morning.

The confrontation between Mayor William Kennedy and resident Lou Vitale took place May 12 outside a township school board meeting. Vitale accused Kennedy of assault; Kennedy countered with a harassment complaint.

Vitale has enlisted Northfield attorney Frank Lentz as his new counsel, replacing Michael T. Peyton, who bowed out because of a potential conflict of interest.
