From The Hammonton News — More than 50 items will be up for bid during the live auction portion of the Devin’s Day fundraiser sponsored by the Timmy’s Regatta Foundation Sunday here at Kerri Brooke Caterers on the White Horse Pike.
“We have a very short day to try to make a lot of money for Devin’s medical expenses,” said event organizer Linda Stanton. “Kerri Brooke has been wonderful and we are so thankful for all that they are doing. The live auction is where we make a lot of money if wehave good attendance.”
There is a buffet, cash bar and live auction ticket for $35. Thos ewho prefer to attend only the live auction will make a $10 donation.
The buffet begins at 5 p.m. with the live auction following at 6:30 p.m.
Stanton said there is a great variety of items to bid on during the auction.
“Kathy Johnston, a local watercolor artist, is doing a painting of some aspects and angles of the Sweetwater Casino. It is fabulous,” Stanton said.
Sweetwater Casino was the annual host of the Timmy’s Regatta fundraiser, but the popular restaurant was destroyed by fire in late June, forcing event organizers to scramble to find a new site.
Also up for bid Sunday will be four tickets in the front row of the Hall of Fame club level and a parking pass for a Phillies baseball game; a Pentagon basket and tour of the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; one week in a four-bedroom, oceanfront condo in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a Perception Express kayak and Carlisle Day Tripper paddle; and a life-size outhouse-type shed.
Also available is a lunch with U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo in the exclusive member’s-only congressional dining area in Washington, D.C. Also included is a guided tour of the Capitol and gallery seats for a legislative session there.
The day of fun Sunday gets under way at 1 p.m. with a Chinese auction, live entertainment, food and prizes.
A motorcycle ride for life will also raise funds with dozens of area motorcyclists expected to participate, Stanton said.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the medical expenses of Devin Waddell, 17, of Mullica Township, who was diagnosed earlier this year with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the blood.
